 Mizui’s Notebooks …

and Calligraphy…

Voler   2007

Let’s live to be 100 years old”.
2004

Mizui wrote down his determination on New Years Day 2004.
It is an oath as Mizui’s ultimate goal in his life.
Live to 100 years old.
But, he left this world in 2008.

‘’吉祥止止  1998

Happiness visits an innocent person without attachment.

Proverb “吉祥 ”. It means that the happiness of this world arrives where it becomes innocent.

‘’The Sheep’’ 2003

Mizui wrote down the zodiac signs of the year at the start of each year. It
is a Japanese custom to do calligraphy on January 2 to purify the heart at the beginning of the year.
Year of the Sheep.
A brushstroke reminiscent of sheep hair.

“Dragon” 2000

The year of the dragon, imagining the long body of the dragon,
intentionally distorting the original Chinese letter,
It expresses the dynamic feeling of the dragon’s body.

Familial’s Arc

An example of the exceptional work of Yasyo Mizui

The Family Arc (1982)

Each stone must play its role in relation to the structure of the whole …
Thus this wave and support work in the form of an arc is a demonstration of the symbolic and technical work of the artist.

Lacoste

His house in France

Having lived for a long time in Paris, Mizui decided to build his own workshop and his house in Provence.
It all started with the maintenance of a hectare of jungle-like forest.
Ten years after buying the land, he had permission to build it, and he did it with his own hands, going back and forth between Provence and Paris.
The house was completed in 1985. Moved from Paris in 1997. The origin of the architectural form is the stone arch like the stone rainbow. The forest is a garden of 60 large and small stone sculptures.

Nature

A stump (and its roots) cleaned and presented at a Yasuo Mizui exhibition.

Mizui polishes the wood.
The dead trees are purified by the water of the river and are then polished, again, by the hands of Mizui.
Dead trees are given new life.
Mizui uses a brush to handwrite, calligraphy; While entrusting the movement of the heart to the brush …

Metagraphy is a process where the flow of ink is left to nature.

Mizui’s heart listens to the movement of the natural life of the moment and finds his soul.

Stone Sensations

The work of the Mizui stone is entirely with his hands. Hit the stone with a hammer and various types of sloppy scissors. The surface of the stone expresses a feeling of touch, depth of shadow, etc. There is a harmony between the stone as a large form and the expression as the texture of the stone.

Last work / Will

Mizui drew the last work of his life “Lying Dragon” at New Years 2004.

The idea was prepared and arranged in Mizui’s garden, but he passed away in 2008 and could not achieve his ambitions. The lying dragon will fly away one day, , ,
