The Order of Arts and Letters is a French honorary decoration which, managed by the Ministry of Culture, rewards “people who have distinguished themselves by their creation in the artistic or literary field or by the contribution they have made to the influence of the arts and letters in France and around the world ”.
It is made up of three ranks: Knight, Officer and Commander.
Mizui received the Commander’s medal in 1985. Film directorAkira Kurosawa also won Commander.
Mizui has participated in many global symposia (10 times in 8 countries) and was a pioneer in this movement. Starting with St Margarethen Austria, the Negev Desert in Israel, Manazuru in Japan, Vermont in the United States, etc ,,,
He made an 80-meter sculpture at the Olympic Games in Grenoble, France. Subsequently, he deepened his experience with these giant sculptures and carried out many “1% art” projects in France. His oriental poetry impressed people. His career has contributed to the integration of modern sculpture and the city.

Their meetings and their sharing …
Mizui shares his passion with sculptor Apel-les Fenoza
From the summer of 1954 he became assistant to the Spanish sculptor Apelles Fénosa and remained so until 1958. Mizui spent his afternoons at the Fenosa studio. The latter asks him to produce, pending his arrival at the workshop, a small clay modeling each day. This experience of daily labor will become, for Mizui, the mainspring of his creation and his career. He is invited to eleven sculpture symposia in various countries, in Yugoslavia, Austria, Israel, Grenoble, Japan and Czechoslovakia etc. In France, various public establishments ask him for sculptures under the artistic 1%.
Fenosa had a cat in his studio.
Mizui made this sculpture entitled “Fenosa’s cat”.
